The Retention tab lets you configure how long meeting data is kept and what happens when data reaches the end of its retention period. These are two independent settings, covered below: the retention period controls how long data is kept before it expires, and what to delete controls what happens to it once it does.
Why retention settings matter
Retention policies help you comply with your organization's data governance requirements and ensure that sensitive meeting content is not kept longer than necessary.
Retention period
The default is 31 days on every plan. Adjusting it — shorter or longer — requires Professional tier or above.
Options:
1 day — a rolling 24-hour window
1 week
2 weeks
31 days (default)
3 months
6 months
1 year
3 years
5 years
New Teamspaces now have their retention period pre-configured to the 31-day default the moment they're created, rather than picking one up only once someone visits this page. Teamspaces created before September 15, 2026 keep whatever they already had configured — this change doesn't touch existing settings.
What to delete
Choose what happens to meeting data when the retention period expires:
Delete everything — removes all meeting data, including recordings, transcripts, and summaries
Keep digest summaries — preserves the meeting digest and enables summary search while removing recordings and transcripts
What you can choose depends on your plan. FREE Teamspaces always delete everything — Keep digest summaries requires Professional tier or above. On paid tiers, this now defaults to Keep digest summaries, but you can switch to Delete everything at any time.
Note: If you choose Delete everything, Chat will no longer have anything to reference for that meeting once it's deleted — Chat's grounding depends on retained transcripts and digests.
Saving changes
Click Save to apply your retention settings. Changes apply to future data expiry cycles.
Notes
Retention settings apply at the Teamspace level. Different Teamspaces within the same account can have different retention policies.
Data is not deleted immediately when you save a new policy. Deletion occurs when existing data reaches the end of its newly configured period.
Deleted data cannot be recovered. Review your settings carefully before saving.
If your account reverts to the FREE tier (for example, after canceling a paid subscription), retention resets to FREE's 31-day default — regardless of what you had configured previously. See the Plans article for what happens on cancellation.
